Welcome to the official linux kernel and ramdisk compression support patch homepage. At the moment this patch provides bzip2 compression support for the linux kernel. All you need is a vanilla linux kernel from www.kernel.org and the appropriate patch from the download section.

FIRST LINUX 2.6 PATCH Finally I have managed to port the bzip2 compression patch to linux 2.6. It is still in an experimental state. The patch now uses a generic in-kernel bzlib. ATTENTIOIN: x86 decompression is still broken in 2.6 releases. Additionally there is a new site design online. |

DEVELOPMENT PAGE ONLINE Have a look into the download section. There you can get to the work-in-progress page. Jörn Engel asked me to use his bzlib-patch for my work. So the next patches will require you to have the -je patchset installed. Find Jörn Engels patches here. I will provide a stripped -je patch as well. |

BZIP2 SUPPORT FOR KERNEL 2.4.21 Finally, the patch for kernel 2.4.21 is available now. BTW I changed the naming conventions for the patches. The one today has the suffix 2.4.21-zip1. Download it, test it and like it :) |

KERNEL VERSION FEATURE Added a new feature in the download section, which shows the current kernel versions. Many thanks to LinuxHQ for the service. |

HAPPY NEW YEAR The new homepage design is finally online. At least this is due to the release of the bzip2 compression support patch for kernel 2.4.20. The kernel compression part is still for i386 only. If someone has the possibility (and of course the will) to port this part to other architectures, please let me know. |
