23.02.08 Beeing in a situation where you're lacking what you'd expect to be there..., one does weird things. Like writing news articles on homepages... Thanks to Jakob, I got new server hardware. And it pretty much kicks bum. Old hardware used to be (Basic Stats): P3 450 MHz 1024 MB of RAM 18 GB and 36 GB IDE harddrives (Singles) Now this was pretty much state of the art, ...many years ago. So now we're cooking with gas, *erm*: P4 2000 MHz 1516 MB of RAM RAID0 16 GB SCSI 2 harddrives RAID0 36 GB SCSI 2 harddrives Even only 1 GB of RAM was never a negativ issue since not running X11/Xorg on this box really keeps memory usage low, using proper USE flags helps too. Anyway, OS has been installed, configurations restored and everything should be back as it was before; just faster, more reliable. Internet conectivity has been some sort of an issue, I wonder if it's got something to do with QSC offering me to step away from SDSL onto ADSL2. No thanks... :) |
